Vouli
Vouli is the CEO and artistic director of VouliDance. A native of Greece, Vouli first began to study and teach dance and gymnastics in her hometown of Thessaloniki. At 12, she won a national gold medal in floor exercises. At 14, she became the first teacher in the Neapolis Cultural Center to teach ballet to the children of the prefecture and create, produce, and choreograph several performing opportunities for about 200 children. At 16, she won a national level scholarship to the pre professional department of the State School of Dance, the top conservatory of dance in Greece. After her professional studies and a two-year full time career in the theatre as a professional dancer, and, at times as an actor, she came to the US where she stayed in NYC for six years studying with Ernie Pagnano, Merce Cunningham, Zena Rommett, Jennifer Muller, Wilhelm Burmann, Robert Blankshine and other notable dance teachers. During her years in NYC she also coached gymnastics for the Discovery Programs closely working with Romanian Olympic team coach, Kostas Georgiou.Vouli has four daughters, and has lived in Amherst for twenty years where she is raising her children. Vouli has worked as a volunteer for the Amherst PTA (choreographer of 2012 play Oklahoma, and co-producer of Fiddle on the Roof and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat), a soccer coach for the recreation department, and as a volunteer in different positions in the school system. She has also served as a member of the New Hampshire Theatre Awards Board of Directors, as well as an adjudicator. Vouli holds a BS from Rivier College in Business Management, a MS from Boston University in Arts Administration, as well as a graduate certificate in Fundraising. Vouli is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. Vouli holds a teaching certification in yoga through Yogaworks. Vouli continues her own training with Pilates and yoga for over a decade and keeps up with dance teachers’ training in different dance disciples.
